The Gartner BPM Summit is a prestigious occasion for members of the Business Process Management (BPM) community, just as the Six Sigma Summits mark important networking events in Belts’ calenders.
Invited to run a 90 minute workshop, the Six Sigma Group was keen to explore with the attendees how BPM and Six Sigma can not only run together concurrently, but can merge tools and techniques to achieve the mutual objective of process performance enhancement.
In opening the workshop, Stephen Walsh, director, said “it is as though there are two parallel universes living in the same space, only vaguely aware of the others’ existence”. He went on to describe the synergy of a BPM-Six Sigma hybrid.
The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the BPM delegates to the philosophy and approach of Six Sigma and illustrate how the two “ghost worlds” could and should merge.
The Six Sigma Group is working closely with inex, idt and Metastorm – well-known advocates of BPM – to create a hybrid portfolio.
