City-based ex-servicemen raise £2000 in aid of Help for Heroes

Lean and Six Sigma

On Thursday evening, a drinks reception for ex-servicemen and colleagues that now work in the Financial Sector was held in the City in aid of Help for Heroes. Venturehaus, a specialist management consultancy working within financial services, gathered many of its colleagues and friends together for a presentation from Major Simon Butt MERCIAN on the challenges of commanding and leading troops on Operations in Helmand Province whilst fighting the Taliban.

Held at the centuries-old City University Club on the Cornhill, the reception was intended to raise money and awareness for wounded service men and women who have served in Afghanistan or
Iraq. As Major Butt himself pointed out, most people in the UK aren’t told the whole truth about warfare, not just due to necessary political secrecy but also through the inability of the servicemen themselves to express their emotions about their experiences.

The evening raised over £2000 and Venturehaus has pledged to hold more of these events throughout the year. Special thanks go to Major Butt for putting together an excellent presentation that was frank, honest, and indeed even entertaining. If you work within the Financial Services sector and have an interest in this charity, please contact carol.james@venturehaus.com for
more information about future events. The website to use for donations is www.justgiving.com/venturehaus and of course all donations are very gratefully received.

Finally, another matter close to the hearts of the Venturehaus team is… rugby! On Saturday 20th September, Twickenham will host the Help for Heroes Challenge Match with all-time greats such as Lawrence Dallaglio, Phil De Glanville and Scott Gibbs. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
