six sigma for sales and marketing
I have been a practicing Blak Belt for around 3 years. My primary expertise is in aircraft engine overhaul and airframe fabrication. I have been asked to reccomend a book for the application on six sigma to markiting and sales. Since I do not have any experiance with this I though I would put he question to you.
Does any one have any suggestions on a book for the application of six sigma to sales and marketing?

Hi Michael,
I have the presentations from the "sales and Marketing conference" referred to earlier if you want me to e-mail you copies. The conference was "OK" but lacked alot of what I'd call the serious application of tools/techniques for sales/marketing.
I also came from Aerospace (AlliedSignal/Hon) - we developed Green Belt training (called Revenue growth training) inconjunction with a world class Marketing consultancy - it worked well and I still use it today. It uses DMAIC/DMADV but integrates alot of marketing tools/methods. - Let me know if you're interested in the outline of this as a start.
I'm currently working with teams in the Marketing, Sales & prod Dev areas to deploy SS and to assist in revenue growth - it's a different approach for sure and I'm very willing to share - e-mail me and perhaps we can organize a telecon.

There is a new book which is just being launched that covers the deployment of Six Sigma in the sales area and specifies a large number of case studies. I could make use of a lot of the ideas and tools myself. The approach is a further development of Six Sigma for this area and brings in new tools as well as a detailled analysis of the correct strategic deployment. We did a couple of Marketing projects in my previous company in Singapore. They were successful in identifying and fixing Marketing problems with customer opportunity identification and (OEM) customer design inputs.
However, as someone else said, the issue is to get Marketing to admit to problems! Both projects started as apparent Manufacturing problems but a good M phase process map and some rigorous data collection soon indicated that the issue was in fact in Marketing. This got their attention to both the problem and the method.
Six Sigma is used widely and effectively in Sales and Marketing.
